Los Muchachos Mexicanos is a Tokyo based band. Band members tend to rotate in and out, but the the core lineup is like this:

At the Open Mic

Josh Millard, or TV's MetaFilter's cortex, posted a demo of a song to MetaFilter Music that I really liked. I took Josh's demo and added drums, bass, guitar, and pedal steel. I've been looking for an excuse to try some recording with my new steel and Josh's song was it.

GarageBand Contest

Yesterday, I was told that Los Muchachos Mexicanos been signed up for the GarageBand Contest at the Apple store in Ginza. The contest was today and I didn't have a song ready so I spent a few hours last night and made something I thought was semi-presentable. When I showed up for the contest I saw that about 30 people registered, but only 12 showed up.

Anyway, without going into detail about the contest itself, Los Muchachos Mexicanos won and I got a free iPod nano, which was cool because my old iPod decided to stop working a while ago.
