Haole is a Hawaiian word for a foreigner or a white person. It's also my favorite new word. I really want to start working it in to daily conversations but I'm still not speaking English that often so I have to take advantage of my newly expanded vocabulary.
The word is apparently common on most of the pacific Islands. I learned it from a Filipino guy from Guam. Some example sentences would be like:
- You just ran over my bike, you stupid haole!
- This haole guy came in to my shop a puked all over my coconuts.
- I think that haole girl is traying to talk to you
- Take your surfboard and get out of here. This is a local spot: no haoles allowed!
